What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui, meaning "wind and water", is an ancient Chinese science. Water is the auspicious purveyor of energy, as it helps to harness the good chi, while the Wind causes the accumulated good chi to scatter and disperse.

Observe this simple test: good Feng Shui is perceived when we feel comfortable, relaxed and happy in any given environment conversely if you sense fear, sadness and hopelessness, you can say that the environment suffers from bad Feng Shui. The bad Feng Shui can manifest itself through unwanted happenings and unpleasant events.

It is believed that around 2205 BC, a noble tortoise emerged from the legendary Lo river carrying on its huge back nine numbers that were arranged in a grid pattern. The numbers were arranged in such a way that adding them up in whatever direction. This was called the "lo-shu" square.

In Feng Shui, the sequence of numbers provides the basis of many compass formulae. The use of the Lo Shu square is widely used in advanced feng shui work. Each number depicts a direction and an element. One should superimpose the lo shu onto the plan of the house.
